Use a few blocks as the frame

Eixample is characterised by its street grid and many modernista buildings. For a short evening walk, choose a limited area that is easy for you to reach. A few blocks with a clear connection to your return journey are easier to manage than a long list of famous houses.

Check whether you will stay on one side of a street or deliberately cross it. Junctions and traffic lights count as walking time. The geometric order on a map does not mean every stretch can be covered without interruption. Do not plan at the speed of a straight line.

Walk with one observation in mind

Look, for example, at balconies, transitions between ground and upper floors or different entrance doors. When a detail interests you, stop in an appropriate place. A second view from slightly farther away can reveal more than a hurried close-up.

Keep entrances to homes and businesses clear. Do not look into private interiors simply because a gate is open. Architecture can be appreciated from public street space. A calm comparison of two facades is enough to give the outing its own focus without turning it into an exhaustive survey.

Add an interior visit deliberately

If you want to enter a particular building, check time slots, admission and luggage conditions directly with the operator. An exterior walk is not a substitute for a required booking. Equally, the outing need not feel incomplete if you return without going inside.

In warm conditions, adjust your pace and allow a pause. Do not wait until the far end of the route to look for a convenient return. Save a point from which you can reach your accommodation easily. This keeps architectural curiosity part of your free time rather than converting the evening into another tight programme.
