Clarify the exit and key return

Ask how departure works at your intended time. Will reception be staffed, is there a designated key-return point, and will the exit you need remain accessible? Do not assume the route used during the day works identically at night. Have the process explained and save any necessary contact details. Also establish the actual pickup point if you have booked a ride. The hotel name alone can be imprecise when there are several approaches.

Deal with the bill and luggage that evening

Ask whether you can check the bill and prepare departure in advance. Properties organise this differently. Review details and additional services while there is still time for questions. Pack everything except the few things you need in the morning. Put those remaining objects visibly together. A toothbrush, charging cable and nightshirt are easier to add at the last moment than several scattered areas throughout the room.

Calculate the final stages completely

Work backwards from departure: leaving the room, possibly taking a lift, returning the key and reaching the vehicle or stop. A confirmed pickup time should not be confused with the time you intend to wake up. Check the current status of your connection through the provider's recommended process. Keep a reachable contact available if a booked pickup fails to appear. An early morning is a poor time to begin searching for that phone number.

Leave quietly and completely

Avoid unnecessary suitcase noise and loud corridor conversations while other guests are sleeping. Take one final look at sockets, bathroom and wardrobe. Close the door according to the property's instructions and return the key in the agreed place. Once that is done, check your bag and travel documents before boarding. The early start becomes manageable when unanswered questions were settled the previous evening.
